William Blake (1757–1827), the great English poet and painter, gives us as a warning against intellectual rigidity. It is probably not a good idea to breed mind-reptiles. In all seriousness, Blake reminds us to continuously scrutinise our cherished opinions, and be ready to abandon them when they no longer cut the mustard. Reptiles of the Mind would also be an excellent band name. What would they sound like?
Replication:
I welcome commissions to replicate this bowl as shown though possibly from a different wood species. The pictured bowl is hormbeam which is great wood (very hard!) but difficult to source; this piece also had some woodworm in that is visible in the pictures. I would probably opt for sycamore, beech or oak to make a replica, though this can be discussed.
